Diamond Rings – Hot Trends

Diamonds are a girl's best friend but diamond rings are her best friends forever. If you're in the market for one or two new diamond rings this year, here a few hot trends to be on the lookout for.

Why Stop at Just a Centre Stone

One of the hottest trends in diamond rings this year, especially when it comes to bridal jewellery, is fully diamond studded diamond rings. Aside from the traditional larger centre stone, the trendy new diamond rings also feature a series of smaller diamonds completely surrounding the centre setting. This not only adds a new level of sparkle to diamond rings, it also gives the impression of a centre stone that is much larger than it actually is. If you want to take this new design in diamond rings to the next level, look for diamond rings that not only have the centre stone surrounded by diamonds, but the band studded with them as well. Another great feature of these diamond rings is that they are perfectly suited to the growing demand for white gold and platinum settings as opposed to the traditional yellow gold. The lighter coloured metals blend seamlessly into the larger number of smaller stones in the diamond rings. The mirror like shine of white gold and platinum also enhance the natural brilliance of the diamond rings themselves.

A New Twist on Diamond Rings

The next big trend is not with the stones in the diamond rings but rather the bands themselves. In an effort to set them apart from other jewellers on the market specializing in diamond rings, a handful of designers looked to the band of the diamonds rings and added a special twist, literally. Instead of single band diamond rings, more and more diamonds are being set in dual banded rings, twisted together in simple ribbon like elegance. These new twisted band diamond rings can be found with solid metal bands, often in white gold or platinum. Given the rise of the diamond studded band mentioned above however, designers are beginning to incorporate that feature as well. Some of the most popular diamond rings in demand right now not only have beautiful centre stones, they are also set in very elegant twisted band designs where one, if not both, of the bands are studded with diamonds in an eternity ring fashion. While the price tag on these new designs may not be for the faint of heart, the sheer number of stones that go into creating these artistic diamond rings is more than enough to justify the price.

Raising Diamond Rings to a New Level

Another very unique feature of the diamond rings hitting the market this year is, once again, not related to the diamonds themselves, but rather the settings they are held in. Years ago, bezel set diamond rings were the setting of choice for the woman on the go who preferred a flush set ring that wouldn't interfere with her daily activities or busy lifestyle. Once again, beauty has won out over practicality and diamond rings have taken their centre stones to new heights. While the traditional setting for diamond rings was a very simple prong or claw design, the new diamond rings to take the market by storm feature high set centre stones in elaborate and intricate raised settings. The settings themselves on these new diamond rings are often studded with jewels, woven in beautiful designs such as bows, or have detailed designs cut into them featuring hearts, scroll work, or even simple geometric shapes. This allows diamond rings to be stunning, not only from the top view, but from the side view as well.

For once, the newest trends in diamond rings have moved away from simply new cuts or shapes and focus more on the overall appeal of the diamond rings themselves.
