Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the way in which our customers have been popping the question with one of our engagement rings has had to change. Romantic trips away or dining in delicious restaurants was unfortunately taken away from us and planning your proposals has meant a lot more improvisation.
We caught up with Talitha and Wezley from Birmingham in the West Midlands, who got engagement last summer during a beautiful candlelit dinner in their garden… Here we ask the lovely couple a few questions to find more about the proposal and the all-important engagement ring!
How long have you been together?
We have been together for 4.5 years!
Where did you meet?
We have known each other since we were little; meeting in Reception at primary school. We have always had a friendship but it grew more in the latter part of our teenage years.
Wezley, when did you start thinking about proposing and how did you do it?
I started to think about proposing from January 2020 and bought the ring in March 2020, however, I was not sure how I would do it, so I waited. In May (when one of our endless list of anniversaries came around), I had a strong feeling that this was the right day. So, to cut a very long story short that evening we had a beautiful candlelit dinner in the garden with only a rustic clay fire pit keeping us warm, joined by the soothing sound of Daniel Caesar sweetening the atmosphere. And as we danced to the music I dropped on my knee and popped the big question… As they say, the rest is history.
Talitha, did you have any idea?
I did think Wezley was going to propose, but I was unsure when exactly it would be. We had discussed marriage and our future at length and I knew we were both ‘the one’ for each other. I certainly did not expect him to propose in the middle of lockdown! That really caught me by surprise, I was utterly speechless and I could not believe this was actually happening. I did not even think he had brought a ring yet, but I should have known better really. Wezley is always full of surprises. The act of him proposing confirmed to me even more about how much he knows me; he did it in such a perfect way and on a date, which meant a lot to both of us.
Wezley, how did you find out about PD and how was the buying process?
I found out about PD whilst I was shopping online for an engagement ring, the price for the diamond quality is what got my attention. Honestly, the buying process was very simple and efficient. I emailed to make an appointment to visit one of the London branches and the PD team got back to me very quickly. The service was even better when I visited, I showed the ring I was interested in and Stephanie not only showed me that ring but various other rings that were similar in various sizes. Yet, after seeing the ring I picked online in person, I knew that it was the one. A few weeks later I got back in touch with Stephanie and made my PD purchase. Within 6 weeks my ring came by special delivery gift boxed and with the official valuation documents. The quality was amazing, and I was pleased I decided to go through with my PD choice.
Talitha, what did you think of the ring?
My ring is stunning, it reflects my personality perfectly and I love the way it glistens when it catches the light. The diamond is beautiful, so clear! Wezley literally got the perfect ring for me as this was a design I wanted. I guided him ever so slightly by telling him what designs I absolutely did not like, but I wanted him to choose a ring which he wanted me to wear and ring that he loved.
And most importantly… Have you started plan the wedding?
We have! It’s an exciting and stressful process especially with the addition of the COVID-19 pandemic. We’re constantly having to compromise and change our plans in order to accommodate for the changes, but hopefully, we will be married in July 2021 with our family and friends present.
We wish Talitha and Wezley a lifetime of love, happiness, and sparkle! #PurelyEngaged
