The popularity of cushion engagement rings has seen a great increase over the last decade, mainly aided by celebrity endorsements such as Kim Kardashian, Victoria Beckham and Beyoncé, who all sport a cushion cut engagement ring.

Some cushion cuts have a crushed ice effect, which see a unique dispersion of the light across the facet structure that imitates the appearance of crushed ice or sparkling water.

Once known as the pillow cut diamond because of its distinctive shape with curved softened corners, the cushion cut diamond can now be found in both square and rectangular forms.

The typical ratio of a cushion cut diamond is between 1.00 and 1.05 to give that equally distributed shape that is the same both length ways and width ways. For a more rectangular cushion cut, you will need a ratio of more than 1.10. If you’re looking for one of these, then do contact us directly as we usually find square shapes as the norm.
