The History

The Meaning

The name Tanzanite was given to this precious gemstone by jewellery company Tiffany and Co in 1968 after the country where it was discovered the previous year.

Unlike many other gemstones, a Tanzanite is only sourced in one location in the world - near the Merelani Hills in Tanzania - located near the stunning location of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Wearing tanzanite rings is said to bring wisdom and truth to its wearer making it a wonderful choice for both eternity rings and cocktail rings.

Tanzanite was added to an official list of birthstones for December in recent years making a tanzanite ring an ideal gift for those celebrating a winter birthday. It is also considered to be the celebration item for a 24th anniversary celebration.
