Asscher Cut Engagement Rings

Learn more

Asscher cut engagement rings provide a timeless elegance that is instantly recognisable that grew to popularity during the Art Deco movement of the 1920s. The allure of an asscher cut is its transparency where you are able to see directly though the facets. This symmetrical shape is step cut in structure - similar to emerald cut diamonds - and provides a unique lustre found only within an asscher cut diamond. Very rarely are asscher cuts presented on their own; they are usually best supported by complementing side stones or intricate design work to enhance the beauty and appeal of these diamonds.

Discover more about Asscher Cut Engagement Rings...

Named after its creator Joseph Asscher, the diamond is formed of 58 facets to give it the unique step cut it is famously known for. Once described as a "stairway of beauty", the asscher cut lends itself to two of the most famous diamonds ever cut.

The first is the Cullinan II diamond, which at 317.4 carat sits in the Imperial State Crown of the British Crown Jewels. The second is the Elizabeth Taylor diamond - once known as the Krupp diamond. This 33.19-carat asscher cut was set into a ring presented to her by her then husband Richard Burton.

When choosing an asscher cut engagement ring, you're clearly in good company for historical wearers of this beautifully cut stone. An important thing to consider when purchasing an asscher cut is the clarity grade - because of the nature of the facet structure, it's best to stick with VVS1 to VS1 to guarantee there are no visible inclusions to the naked eye.

This regal diamond shape makes for an exceptional choice for an engagement ring - you will not be disappointed.
