How To Clean Your Jewellery

Yes, diamonds are forever, but it is important to look after them.

With the right care, your jewellery will stay as brilliant as the day you received it.

Care Tips for Diamond Jewellery

Remove for Rough Work
Although diamonds are incredibly durable, a sharp blow in the wrong place can still cause a chip.

Store with Care
Do not keep diamonds loose together in a box, as they can scratch one another.

Avoid Chemicals
Household products such as chlorine bleach will not damage a diamond, but can discolour or pit the metal setting.

Avoid Contact with Oils & Cosmetics
Everyday products like skin oils, soap and cooking grease can leave a film that dulls the sparkle.

There are several effective ways to keep your diamond jewellery looking its best. Below are some recommended options:

Professional Cleaning

The most thorough option for maintaining your jewellery. We recommend having your diamond pieces professionally cleaned and inspected at least once a year. This ensures stones remain secure and highlights any early signs of wear to the setting or claws.

Jewellery Cleaner

Liquid jewellery cleaners can be effective if you carefully follow the instructions provided. Always choose a trusted brand and check that the cleaner is suitable for the specific type of jewellery you wish to clean.

Social Media Reward

We are delighted to offer your first clean and polish free of charge when you share a photo of your jewellery on Instagram. Simply tag us @PurelyDiamonds and use the hashtag #PurelyEngaged. Once you’re ready, let us know and we’ll arrange the rest.

At-Home Cleaning Guide

If you prefer to clean your jewellery yourself, follow these safe and simple steps:

1. Bowl & Bubbles – Place your ring in a bowl of hot water with a small amount of mild washing-up liquid.

2. Soak – Leave it to soak for around 20 minutes.

3. Clean & Brush – Gently brush with a soft-bristled toothbrush to loosen and remove dirt.

4. Rinse & Repeat – Rinse in clean water and brush again lightly to remove any remaining soap suds.

This easy routine helps keep your jewellery bright between professional cleans, ensuring your diamonds reflect light at their very best.
